CEIP Bec de l’àguila is a state kindergarten and primary school in San Vicente del Raspeig, a university town in the surroundings of Alicante. There are 19 classes, 6 for kindergarten, 12 for primary and one for pupils with special needs. In total there are 500 pupils in the school, who range from 3 to 12 years of age.

Our school is running a project based learning approach in the kindergarten and the staff are trained to work on key competences in primary education. Being part of a European project is very important for staff as they can meet and experience other educational systems and update their teaching methods. Currently our school is also making a big effort to introduce digital skills as a part of the curriculum, and in spite of all difficulties, the project was awarded by the EU campaign eSkills for Jobs 2016.

We take part in a great number of extra-curricular activities to enable our pupils to have vital experiences, but being part of a European project is specially significant because it boosts motivation for learning languages and meeting other cultures. In fact, many students who were specially active in our last projects have chosen plurilingual secondary education after leaving our school.
